The challenge/project was Degen's 4 Letter Sweater
However, my Word of the Year has 7 letters, and seven being my Number of the Year...
For my 4-letters, I considered RAGE, with cou embroidered above it, but
I didn't want another sweater; I wanted a Slipover.
Courage seems a more positive word to live by.
Also, I had so many odds and ends of Atlas in hand that colorwork was the way to go.
There's that number 7 influencing my design.
7 colors to radiate around the heart-felt word
Organizing shades by value, using the color app on my phone.
Charting the design
I used 2 sheets of asymmetrical 6x9 graph paper taped together.
The blocks are rectangles, just like stockinette stitch.
I see that I intended to embroider
7-pointed starbursts in the open area of the heart.
Next time.
In progress.
The backside before weaving in all of the ends.
I used a provisional cast-on to work the ribbed hem band down from.
The colors of all ribs were to be determined after assemblage.
I wore this at Nash Yarn Fest - the dates are up for next year, I hope to see you there!
Here I sat for Gale Zucker as she adjusted lighting for her photo memory corner -
Her amazing shots are trickling in on my Instagram feed.
It was an incredibly busy weekend full of quick hellos to old and new friends -
I took so few pictures.

On Sunday morning, on my way out of town, I had a lovely, unplanned meeting with several Shakerag/Moxie knitters.
Dear JM mentioned that she wanted to knit this vest.
I actually wanted to re-knit it as an intarsia/untarsia tutorial.
Sharing seemed appropriate.
I'm planning a Create and Knit-along in May,
here and on Instagram.
Gather ideas.
Play with colors.
Stash dive.
Swatch!
Courage, dear heart.

and always, Love.
Wow—your vest is spectacular! I’ll look forward to your Create and Knit-a-long. (P.S. I didn’t realize that phrase is from C.S. Lewis.)
